I'd look up common interview questions online and prepare answers for them. If you sound confident with your answer, you will improve your odds of getting hired. Make sure you review the job description and be able to connect your experience to what they are looking for. Have a couple of stories that share how you have been successful with skills that relate to the job.

Lastly, have some questions available for the interviewer. This shows you have does some research and are engaged.

Hi Simon,
First, ensure to have a good resume. Ask others to review your resume and provide input. If they don't understand it, then the hiring may not understand it. Use the "STAR" method which helps guide you with answers. When you present, please use and provide (1) Situation, (2) Task, (3) Action and (4) Resolution. Study and understand the job requirements, and stay focused on these requirements. Be precise, and don't provide irrelevant experience during the interview unless the hiring manager asks.

Hi Simon,

Regarding getting a good job offer, it's best to research the types of positions/jobs you would like to have. Find the common requirements for that job type and cross-reference to your work and studies experience. Research the average salaries for your role, your living area (region of the country), and level of experience.
Regarding preparation for interviews, I like to first start off by going through the job description and reviewing the description and requirements listed in the posting. Compare this to your personal experience, noting which past job(s) where you have worked on what the job opening is asking for. A lot of times, hiring managers make a "wish list" of all skills and requirements that they want for a job opening, but in reality the job may not use all of the skills/requirements listed. If anything seems odd or unclear, then that should be asked by you in the interview. It's important for you to ask questions about the company, team/department, and role to the interviewer after they ask you questions. You are interviewing the company and manager for a fit to your ideal working environment just as much as they are interviewing you for a fit to the role. Best of luck!

I strongly recommend consulting Glassdoor to glean insights from current and former employees. This will give you a sense of the company culture before you even apply. When you advance to the interview stage - let your true self shine and exude confidence. Don't hesitate to ask questions! Inquire about the company culture, their future plans, and if you're working with a recruiter, ask about the specific topics that will be discussed so you can prepare accordingly. Before the interview, try to learn more about the interviewers' backgrounds and experiences to find common ground.

When answering questions, I find the STAR method - Situation, Task, Action, Result - to be very effective. Be ready to discuss your potential areas for growth and how this position will contribute to your personal and professional development.

To get a good job offer, you need to have something valuable to offer your potential employer.

What are your strongest assets? Are you organized, do you understand technology, do you communicate well? Are you creative, do you like to solve problems, are you open to new ideas and change?

Be honest with yourself and develop your strengths. Be honest with future employers and tell them about your strengths.

If you are not honest, people will eventually learn the truth. It is better to get the right career fit than to simply get hired.

Be honest. Honesty, integrity, and hard work will go a long way in any position. Good luck.
