Not just a job, but an adventure?
I'm in Job Corps going to take either the computer tech or computer networking course and am wondering what sort of job options that would open up in the Navy.

Embarking on a career in computer tech or computer networking can indeed be an adventure. Job Corps is a great opportunity to gain valuable skills in these fields. If you're considering joining the Navy, there are several job options that could be available to you.
In the Navy, you might find job roles related to computer networking and technology, such as Information Systems Technician (IT) or Electronics Technician (ET). These roles involve maintaining and troubleshooting computer systems, networks, and communications equipment.
By completing the computer tech or computer networking course in Job Corps, you'll be equipped with the foundational knowledge and skills that can help you excel in these Navy job roles. It's a great way to start your career and gain practical experience in the field.
Remember to research and speak with a Navy recruiter to get more detailed information about the specific job opportunities that align with your interests and qualifications.

I started my career in IT by joining the Marine Corps. The Marine Corps used to have a computer science school in Quantico Virginia and I got to go there. It has served me well as a starting point in my career.
The Navy does have a lot of opportunities in IT. See this link: https://www.navsea.navy.mil/Careers/Career-Fields/IT-and-Cybersecurity-Jobs/
One thing that is VERY important is scoring very well on your Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Batter (ASVAB). That's a multi hour test that will determine if you qualify for any of those schools. If you score well enough to qualify, you can get one of those schools guaranteed in writing. Make sure you do that or you could end up driving trucks (not that that's bad, but it's not what you want).
After doing some research on what training you'd like to get, contact a Navy recruiter. Your recruiter can schedule the ASVAB test and give you more information on Navy jobs in IT. If you do qualify, make sure to get the school you want guaranteed in writing.
But I would recommend to definitely do it. It will really "up" the adventure in your life! I have never regretted it.
