Tamara’s Answer

If you're talking about applying to college in the U.S., most 4-year schools being accepting applications in September with a lot of the deadlines due by January 1st. If you're applying this fall you would start college in Fall 2025. If you're interested in a community college, vocational school, or something else, you could probably apply at any time to begin the following semester. Martha’s Answer

Hi, Rose. Tamara has given you excellent advice. I just wanted to mention that many educational institutions offer Spring admissions, as well as the Fall - see link below. A Google search produced several other lists, but I posted only the source I recognized.

Good luck!

Common Application Opening: August 1, 2024.

Regular Decision Deadlines: Typically between January 1 and February 1, 2025.

Preparation

Start Early: Begin your college search and preparation during your junior year or earlier. Research colleges, visit campuses, and understand admission requirements.
Maintain Good Grades: Your GPA is an important part of your application. Focus on doing well in challenging courses.
Standardized Tests: Take the SAT or ACT early enough to allow time for retakes if needed. Also, consider taking SAT Subject Tests if required by your target schools.

Hannah’s Answer

Hello Rose!

Tamara and Martha have provided some excellent advice about college admissions. To build upon their suggestions, I recommend crafting a list of your ideal colleges, and then carefully researching each school's application for specific deadlines. You'll discover that some colleges provide the benefit of early admission if you submit your application in advance, while others may have different deadlines. By keeping all these deadlines well-organized, you can strategically determine which applications to prioritize.

Here's a useful link I found about early admission versus early decision from the College Board:
https://counselors.collegeboard.org/college-application/early-decision-action

The College Board is a trustworthy source for information on test scores, applications, and college admissions.

I hope you find this beneficial, and I wish you all the success in the world!

Hannah recommends the following next steps:

Make a list of schools you are interested in
Research the application start dates and deadlines
Prioritize applications based on interest and deadline date
