There isn't a "best" degree because it is based on your passions and needs. Sure, there are degrees that you should make good money, like engineering, medical and law, etc., but those aren't for everyone. My Aunt got into medical school and then realized she passed out at the sight of blood, after money was spent on schooling. I encourage you to pin point your interests and try different to get a degree in something that you know you will be able to use in the future. Ultimately, long term, you want to be doing something you enjoy!

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but there is not "one" best degree in the world. That answer is different for everyone. For one of my friends the best degree was biology and oceanography because he wanted to be an oceanographer. For a different friend, that degree was in film and he is now a film editor. So, what's the best degree for you? Only you can decide that.

To decide that, think about what you like to do. What kinds of things are you doing when time just flies by and you're having fun. These are the kinds of things that are an indicator of the kinds of things you might enjoy doing for work. Then, once you identify what those things are that you might want to do for work, then you look to see what jobs include that type of work. Once you know what the jobs are, then you see what education and degrees are required to do that work. That will tell you what degree(s) to pursue.

Here's an example. When I was deciding what to study in college I thought about what I really liked to do. For me, I liked to work with people and help them to overcome obstacles. I started out at school studying Psychology and then I switched to Social Work because Social Work involved working with individuals and groups. I wanted to do both. When I graduated with my Bachelor's degree, I still needed a Master's degree to be a Social Worker. But, I didn't have the money to pay for a Master's degree. So, I went to work in the business world and applied the skills I learned to different types of jobs. Today, I work in the tech field where my job is to help people be successful when we make big changes in the company. A lot of people who do what I do have different degrees. But, we all do the same work. And the thing that makes it meaningful is that we all get to help people be successful in their jobs.

So, as you decide what degree to pursue, keep in mind that what you learn in your degree program can likely be applied to a number of different kinds of jobs. Oh, and keep in mind, that if you start down one path, you can change your mind and switch to something else if your interests change.

Hi Rodgers. I agree with so many of the comments so far, there is no such thing as a "Best" degree because it depends on what your interests are. There are two things I do suggest, however. 1) Don't think that the degree you get necessarily locks you into that career for life. I got my bachelor's and master's degrees in biology but 5 years after graduation from my last degree, got an opportunity to start in technology. Now I'm an Enterprise Architect in the IT field. The secret was not to let my future be dictated by what I had initially chosen as a degree path. 2) The biggest benefit of a degree is learning to think. Problem solving, research, writing, thinking critically and learning to see different points of view are the most valuable parts of getting a degree. Even though I work in IT, my degrees gave me foundational skills to do my current job, even though the degrees were in a totally different area! Best wishes for your journey.

No Right answers. Ask yourself what would be most fulfilling to you? Now having said that, if you're only looking towards money as a factor then there are a few that stand out:
1. AI/ML
2. Doctor
3. Lawyers
4. Finance/BBA

As some people mentioned - school prestige matters a lot, you could be a 4.0 GPA grad in finance from an average university and not have access to top investing/VC positions.

This is a very personal thing!

I recommend talking to people in various jobs that you find interesting, and see what degrees they did.

Now, you could follow your current personal passion, but passions change over time. I recommend thinking about things like: how much money do I want to make, what kind of lifestyle do I want to have, and what am I passionate about?

If you make a lot of money, but have a miserable job - that won't be sustainable for you. If you love your job, but can't afford rent - that is also not a good situation.

I would recommend finding the intersection of money, lifestyle, and passion to help you choose. Keep in mind, what you major in college does not define your future! You are smart and can keep learning after college to pursue any career field, or make a career switch!

Thank you for your question. Different people may have different perspective on the best degree to them. Also, different colleges have strength in different subjects. The relevant subjects are the major and minor you can consider. Hence, you can find the colleges the most suitable to you.
Below are my suggestions :
1. Think about what you have interest, e.g. your hobbies, favorite subjects, etc. and identify the related careers
E.g. If you like music, would you like to become a musician, singer, musical artist, music composer, music producer, etc.
If you have interest in maths, would you like to become an banker, accountant, engineer, financial analyst, maths teacher, etc.
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counsellor, your parents, etc.
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue. The relevant subjects are the major and minor you can focus
5. Explore the colleges reviews on these subjects and find out the entry criteria
