Best ways to make money right out of college for a welder or business owner. Work for private companies or county/city? I’ll be taking over my dad’s landscaping business as well any advice on that? Thank you

Don't spread yourself too thin. Pick a few things you can really excel at and push those forward. This mindset comes from the book "Good to Great". For welding, pipelining is very lucrative. It also depends on experience and the quality of the welds which school can improve.

In my opinion, get a government job. The best part about it is retirement. You work for X number of years and they will give you a pension plan.

In my opinion, get a Private job. Government jobs can have a slower growth path and lower compensation, too - despite of providing stability and a good retirement.
For your dad's landscaping business, good immediate next steps are probably to "modernize" the business, create social media pages if the business doesn't have that yet, develop a good marketing strategy.

Both privately owned and government owned or union jobs have perks and setbacks. Don't spread yourself to thin or overthink the topic at hand. In today's society, there are many options to be flexible and move through out other companies or opportunities. You aren't married to a job just because you take the job. Take the time to learn the ropes and become proficient then take a self-examination and decide if something else would work better for you.
