The best resources I know of for learning about running a business are this workbook (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/bc/content/ldsorg/topics/self-reliance/2017/14678_sgmb_book_eng.pdf?lang=eng) and a book by Dave Ramsey called EntreLeadership.

Nikolaos’s Answer

Hi Grazia,

It would be really great if you could share some additional details about your business so we can evaluate more specific tactics. Until then, I would like to share a piece of advice that I often repeat to entrepreneurs within my network: client centricity is essential, especially in the modern business world.

Leveraging tactics that enable you to listen to your clients and involve them in the design of your operations, services, and products is a strategy that maximizes long-term success. Consider fostering a culture that keeps clients at the center of everything. An equally important thing to remember is that happy employees often result in happy clients. When employees are satisfied and engaged, they are more likely to provide exceptional service, which in turn leads to greater client satisfaction and loyalty. Having said that, managing your business in a way that will increase employee and client satisfaction is a really important strategy that you should definitely take into consideration.

I hope this helps!

Best regards,
Nikolas

Kim’s Answer

Managing your business, whatever kind of business it is, means having your financial goals outlined. Go over the cost, budget, and time frame, then tweak those goals as you go along. Whether you’re selling a product or service, you’ll also need to keep an eye on what’s trending to help predict a more accurate need to your financial goals and budget. Have a weekly and monthly check in to see where you are and tweak your plan as you go. There are many apps you can use to help do this. Plus, the market is unpredictable, so keep in mind the cost of living, location, and how the economy is doing. City location is going to be a lot more time and money compared to small town or other location. If it is on line only, (or both online and on site), you’ll need money for advertisement to help gain traction so people can learn you exist and what you sell. And also think quality over quantity. If you sell a lot of cheaply made products or inadequate services, it can really hurt your business. It’s important to make sure your product or service is worth the time and money to consumers. Other factors are things you can’t control. When Covid first hit, the cost of living skyrocketed, which means uncontrolled instances can have a huge impact, so always keep that in mind, make sure you have some financial cushion, and adjust as you go along. As long as you stay sharp and on top of your goal, you can really thrive and succeed. Discipline can make or break your business.
