Discovering the age group you'd like to educate is a crucial step, as each comes with its unique challenges and rewards. Remember, every age bracket is special in its own way. You might find that you connect better with older kids than younger ones, or the other way around. That's perfectly okay! We all have our own preferences. Embrace yours and let it guide you to a fulfilling teaching experience.

Volunteer at a local community center with children and teenagers
Attend a library story time to get a feel for the kids there.

First, I'd start with Hannah's answer.
What grade you should teach is, to me, a very personal question. A grade you are comfortable with. Student-wise.
And this, to me, is not about students liking you. It's about students respecting you. You are not their friend and you should not want them to be yours.
Yet they should understand that you and the students in the class are a single entity. You're all in this together. You are all a single element.
But you have to decide just where you "fit". Just who are you?
I spent thirty-eight years teaching at the college level. Then I retired. Then I was asked to teach modern European history (French Revolution and on) plus a course in competitive essay writing. To middle schoolers! Best ten years of my career in education. We were all together with the same goal. (The few in the class that were not the rest of the class took care of.) We were a unit. A single entity.
But I cannot tell you what grade is for you. That must come from inside you.
Again. Start with Hannah. And do a great deal of personal thinking.

Make sure to understand your personal rights to Teach. Write a Letter to "NSE" and "NIPSA", asking them about this crucial matter. Their response will provide you with the necessary guidance.
