Hi there,
First of all, I love that you are wanting to volunteer! Thinking of others before yourself is the best feeling and helping others makes you feel the best overall!
I look for volunteer opportunities on volunteer match.com. Also, if you do a google search for volunteer opportunities in your area you will find something that fits for what you are looking for. Good luck and awesome choice!!

Good for you wanting to volunteer! That's been part of my life for many years and I believe there is nothing to compare in how rewarding it is!
Really there are unlimited places where you can volunteer -- think about your own family, neighbors, relatives, in addition to the many nonprofits that exist everywhere. Start by exploring a lot of opportunities such as events for one day (handing out water, checking in guests, etc.), or things like serving meals to the homeless, collecting books for shelters, drop off popsicles at a domestic abuse shelter, etc. There are some online sites like VolunteerMatch where you can find postings where volunteers are needed.
You are on a great path and thanks for whatever you will do!
With every good wish.

Hi Caden,
That's great you're thinking about helping others! As you think about graduating from high school, take a moment to reflect on your achievements throughout your life. You have certainly grown and learned a lot over the years, and your knowledge and experiences may seem ordinary for a typical high school student, but they're invaluable to someone younger than you.
After I graduated from high school, I volunteered at a local community center tutoring fourth-graders in math and writing. The questions were simple, but watching them learn and grow was a rewarding experience. By the end of summer, they were able to correctly solve the questions on their own. I highly recommend tutoring whether virtually or in-person.

Volunteering as a high school senior is a great way to give back to your community and gain valuable experience. Here are some ideas for finding volunteer opportunities:
Local Nonprofits and Community Centers: Check with local nonprofits, community centers, or religious organizations in your area. They often have various volunteer roles available, from helping with events to tutoring younger students.
School Clubs and Organizations: Many high schools have clubs or organizations focused on community service. Joining these can provide structured volunteer opportunities both locally and possibly virtually.
Virtual Volunteering Platforms: Websites like VolunteerMatch.org, Idealist.org, and AllForGood.org list volunteer opportunities that can be done remotely. You can search by interest and availability.
Tutoring Programs: Offer to tutor younger students in subjects you excel in. This can often be arranged through your school or local libraries.
Environmental Initiatives: Look for local environmental groups or park clean-up initiatives. These often need volunteers for hands-on projects.
Senior Centers or Nursing Homes: Many seniors appreciate visits or assistance with activities. Check with local nursing homes or senior centers about volunteering opportunities.
Political Campaigns: If you're interested in politics, consider volunteering for a political campaign. This can involve canvassing, phone banking, or organizing events.
Online Skills Sharing: If you have skills in areas like coding, writing, or graphic design, consider volunteering to help organizations with these needs remotely.
When reaching out to organizations, be clear about your availability and any specific skills or interests you have. Volunteering not only helps others but can also be a valuable addition to your resume and college applications.

Hi Caden!
Congratulations on your thoughts to start giving back to the community! As Stephanie is mentioning, exploring volunteer opportunities can be an extremely fulfilling and enriching experience. Some additional websites that can help you find volunteering opportunities, are VolunteerMatch and Pointsoflight. Such platforms can connect you with various causes and organizations that align with your interests and goals.
From there you have to find the most appropriate area for you to make a positive impact. Another idea would be to simultaneously evaluate volunteer work that aligns with your future career aspirations which can also provide valuable experience and skills. For example, if you're interested in a career in education, tutoring can give you hands-on experience and a better understanding of what it's like to help others learn. If you're considering a career in mental health, volunteering for support services can offer valuable insight into the field and help you develop empathy and communication skills. Of course, believe me, that at the end of the day, regardless of the area, each volunteering opportunity comes with valuable and rewarding experiences that
allow you to contribute to the community and support those in need, build your resume, and grow personally.
Best of luck!
Regards,
Nikolas
