Anika’s Answer

Hi Betty,

These classes align well with the pre-pharmacy track! I would look into taking AP bio, AP psych, human body systems, and even AP calculus. These classes will give you a good understanding of human biology and scientific background, as well as critical thinking skills using equations which can come in handy for pharmacy. Since AP classes are geared towards preparing you for college-like classes, colleges review these classes at a higher standard as well, and they are great for giving you insight to what you will be learning at a pre-pharmacy school. I think either track would be useful and helpful into allowing you to attain your goals, but I believe the AP structure aligns with your interests and goals a bit more accurately!

Isabel’s Answer

Hello Betty!

When considering a pre-pharmacy track, both the AP and IB pathways can be advantageous. However, the AP pathway may align slightly better due to its emphasis on AP Biology, a key subject for pharmacy studies. By taking AP Biology, AP Calculus, and Human Body Systems, you'll build a solid science foundation, which is vital for a career in pharmacy. Plus, colleges often hold AP courses in high esteem. On the other hand, the IB pathway also delivers challenging coursework, but its inclusion of economics may not be as pertinent as the science-focused courses offered in the AP pathway. Both routes showcase impressive academic prowess, but the AP pathway may align more closely with the prerequisites for pre-pharmacy.

Karissa’s Answer

AP Biology and AP Calc and Human Body Systems. Stay at the regular high school. Try and take AP Language and Composition because it is a required class for freshmen in college.

How can you take Economics 3? No regular high school offers Economics 2. IB is a program and you need to start it your freshman year. You may get in but are excluded from some level 3 classes.
