Hello Chayanne.
Well, I know several surgeons who had to work while working their way to becoming surgeons. You have options. Becoming a CNA is good, but that may not open doors to where you need to be. I would suggest you look at becoming a surgical technician. This would put you in the operating room as an assistant to the surgeon. You would be responsible for all equipment and ancillary needs for the surgery, as well as, scrubbing into assist with all that equipment. You would, most likely, assist with smaller surgeries and you would find which surgeries you like best, possibly pointing you in the direction of a speciality. There are other options. A Phisicians Assistant and a surgical assistant are just a couple. Since you would be in the operating room you, more than likely, will find lots of people who would be willing to help you. Good Luck, I'm sure you'll do great!

Becoming a surgeon is a fabulous goal! Do you think about what type of surgery you would like to do? What systems of the body interest you? For instance, if you are interested in working with bones and joints, an orthopedic surgeon or Podiatric surgeon (foot and ankle surgeon) are they focus. One of the things that I learned while training for bone surgery is that it can have many elements that are related to wood working or carpentry! Seriously! We use screws and pins and special adhesives to fixate bones. Regardless of the focus, being able to work with your hands in intricate ways; stitching, guiding scopes...fine motor skills should be developed. Play a musical instrument. Learn to crotchet or knit or other artistic endeavors to train the muscles in your hands and fingers. Gaining medical knowledge will come with time but being comfortable with your hands takes training. Start early. Learn medical terminology early. It's not hard! But it is another language. I honestly would start at phlebotomy. Being a CNA is one of the most difficult jobs on the planet and unless you have the heart for it, I would not recommend that as a starting point. Medical assisting would be a good option. Talk to health care workers; interview them! But know yourself and your passions and you will achieve great things!

Start following Dr. Ryan Gray with medical school headquarters. He has a YouTube channel and he has written books on the best path to medical school. Make sure you know all the expectations and extracurricular activities needed for applying to medical school. He will also review classes that are typically needed as well. Another option you can look into is physician assistant for a surgeon.
