E. C’s Answer

Life goals formulate in our minds from a very young and impressionable state as humans. It starts off with teachers, parents and other adults asking, *what do you want to be when you grow up?" You can go by likes and dislikes as well as environmental elements. But I am going to keep it very realistic with you Alfonso, what you may work hard for may not be your purpose. Life goals and purpose are sometimes on a collision course.
One is based what YOU want out of life and the other comes from your sense of direction. Linda represented purpose very well while Abraham gave you the guidelines on goals.
My goal in life was to be very rich and affluent although I did not have any specific trade or industry I was investing my time into. But one of my purposes stemmed from my personal experiences and the impressions left of my mind from what I could do; to better not only my experiences but other's experiences as well. Goals also play a part in purpose because it derives from the impact you want to leave on and in this Earth. I've worked in the manufacturing, warehousing and administrative industries fulfilling certain of my goals. But none of it was my purpose and today I am still finding my meaning, impact, sense of direction that's specific, personal unique with my identify, experiences and skills. I hope I didn't confuse you there and if I didn't well then you have a great mind.

Hey Alphoso and any one else who might benefit from this answer,

The question of life goals is an interesting one yet very tricky. Life goals should be uniquely personal and differ from person to person depending on several factors including career path, likes and dislikes, and sometimes based on the resources at your disposal. As you rightly said, life goals are our ideal plan for our lives. Two ways to design life goals are;

a. Using the long-standing "Self-reflection questions" method
- What do I want to have in life?
- What do I want to do?
- Where do I want to go?
- What do I want to see?
The answers you provide to these questions will serve as your life goals or 'bucket list', as some prefer to call it.

b. The Design Method
Imagine what the future will look like and the role you will be playing in it. What will you be doing, what impact will you be making, what will you be remembered for? Write it all down. Next, write down as many reasons as possible, why those goals are important to you. If possible, write down what obstacles can prevent you from reaching your goals, and what you are willing to do to overcome those obstacles. Finally, start doing something every day to get closer to your goal.

These are my suggestions, but ultimately, there is no right way or wrong way of designing one's life goals. It's your life and you decide what you want from it. I hope this helps!

Linda’s Answer

Well my life goals seemed to be one thing when I was a young person and just beginning to explore my desires in life and or purpose. I had a very strong pull in as far as my career which drove me relentlessly and kinda fogged up the importance of a well rounded purposeful life including building strong relationships with my God and family and friends even myself. Looking back I have no regrets I have worked hard at a job and career I love and is for filling but it was a solitaire journey and much harder to have arrived here with retirement looming realizing the people and adventures I left behind without even knowing I was doing so. I wouldn't change anything because I have been fortunate and spent a happy life and my decisions have taught me and brought me here a good place but for a journey less challenging having a hand to hold a long the way makes the end goal clear. It isn't how much money or things or power you aquire but learning how to be a kind, concerned and giving soul and to accept kindness, concern and help yourself the rest will follow and a happy life spent. Work hard, stay present and courious and keep you head up so you can see who is on your path with you, include them if you are able because when you look back they may not be there. My goal now to continue a happy life spent. Good luck and happy journey.

Elise’s Answer

As an art teacher who grew up in a low income single parent household. I believe I have manifested and made a lot of my goals come to life by doing these things.

1. Have a life goal and make a plan how to get there.

Many people have goals, but never research how to get there or put the work in to get there. Always remember you are in charge of your own life no one is going to force you to research and put in work.

2. Invest in yourself and your future. During the process of my senior thesis and other events I always knew I had to invest money or time to get a greater outcome. Invest in your education, invest in your look, invest in your appearance, invest time widening your social circle.

3. Know at least 3 facts about your desired field.

When given opportunities to network try to remember facts to tell people that they may not know. It will make you look professional and may even open doors!

Following these steps will help you reach your goal they have helped me and continue to help me! Never forget you are destined for greatness!

My life goals are as follows…..

1. Make a decent living with time for family

(High income jobs usually require more work outside of work hours.)

2. Be physically fit

3. Become a lifelong learner, try new hobbies, explore new places

4. Travel

5. Raise a loving family that is close to God
