Hi Sophie - Assuming you're not available from 7am to 5pm, most likely due to school / sports / other commitments. I would consider getting a job on the weekends, or I'm sure there are some jobs who would welcome you for evenings shifts. In high school, any job is a job - it's experience, it's joining the work force, proving you're reliable. Coffee shops would most likely hire you for a morning / opening shift, like 4:30-7am. Restaurants would hire for evenings, like 5-9/10pm. Or shops are often looking for weekend help!

Barbara’s Answer

To find a virtual volunteering job or internship as a Michigan high school senior, start by searching online platforms like VolunteerMatch, Idealist, and LinkedIn for remote opportunities that fit your schedule. Utilize your school’s career center and guidance counselor for additional leads and advice. Reach out to local organizations on social media, expressing your interest in virtual positions.

When applying, tailor your resume and cover letter to highlight your skills, enthusiasm, and specific availability, emphasizing your willingness to work evenings or weekends. During interviews, research the organization thoroughly and be prepared to clearly explain your time constraints while showcasing your dedication and flexibility. This approach will increase your chances of securing a virtual role that accommodates your schedule.

Arrange a meeting with your high school counselor. Schools often host career days and local businesses looking for assistance. Connect with your classmates, friends, and family, letting them know you're ready to work. Visit your local library, hospital, or fire station to check for any volunteer opportunities.
