I am 16 and I'm looking for a part time job for the winter, after school. Does anyone know where I can find a part time job?

Hello, Indigo !

It's never difficult to find a part time job in New York City despite the many changes your city has seen in the past few years. You should not have a problem. You can start looking for jobs online at employment websites as well as the Department of Labor office which usually has a job board online or you can go in person (to the office referred to as the Unemployment Office) for their job board or referrals.

Be sure to obtain your Work Permit from your High School Administration office.

It would be awesome to get a part time job connected to one of your interests, but I can make some suggestions as to where you can possibly find part time work at various places. One would be to apply at retail stores. Another suggestion is childcare. Make sure you qualify for whatever job you apply for. There also may be opportunities to work in a coffee shop, cafe or restaurant or warehouse work. There may be some entry level no experience necessary part time jobs at hospitals, too, such as data entry or food service or reception.

You can seek jobs by looking online at employment websites, going to places in person and ask if they are hiring, and going to different company websites and applying directly on their website by reading their Employment section of their website. Some employment websites you can try are Indeed, Linked In, Simply Hired, Snagajob, Glassdoor, Hire Teen, and so many more that you can find by doing a search online.

You can also consider working remotely online doing data entry, customer service or becoming a tutor for a subject that you like. It will be good to start working on a resume now because most employers, applying online and in person expect a resume. I have left three links below to websites that have information about resumes.

So, being in New York City, I would visit business after business within walking distance and ask if there are any part time job openings. Then venture onto searching the employment websites for both on site and remote work. Do not discount any non-profit agencies because there may be some openings at them, too.

I wish you all the best and hope that you find a part time job that you really like !
