Career Advise?
Hello, my name is Santiago and I'm currently a Junior in HS.
These are my grades:
Math 2: 85
Sports and Event Marketing: 88
Ap Computer Science: 96
Found Prin USA&NC: Civics Literacy Honors: 81
Biology Honors:79
ESL III Part 2: 91
English II Honors: 75
Spanish III Honors: 95
GPA: 3.156
I would like to know if based on my grades I can have a successful career. I would like to go to college as well to get a degree in physical therapy. And specialize in physical therapy sports.
I always tended to not turn in work on time or at all. And things haven't changed for me. I'm about to be 18 next week, I'm 5'8, and 130 pounds. I like going out with my friends because I get to express who I am freely, I enjoy quiet time, and playing sports. I get distracted in class a 4 out of 10, but I believe my downfall is that I don't feel any interest in doing homework assignments or I answer in a one-sentence format. I cannot communicate my ideas efficiently at all, and my vocabulary is very small which makes me feel very insecure as I'm a very social person but I cannot connect anymore, since my first language is Spanish and I've been learning English for two years. That's how long I've been in the States. Growing up I didn't have my mom or my dad overlooking my studies and I never found any interest in doing homework or learning any material. I now live with my dad here in the states and I've been under different circumstances to say some. My dad never stops rambling about me getting my mind and my priorities reset, and he's very worried and he says that is gonna be too late if I keep doing the same thing. And I've shown improvement because I used to do nothing on my own.
I'm writing this believing that this is gonna help me improve in some way.
Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions.

**Santiago, kudos to you for taking this bold step towards betterment!** Your candidness about your struggles is a commendable first move. Even though your grades aren't top-notch, they don't define your potential. What truly counts is your will to transform.
### Getting to Know Your Goals
Your fascination with physical therapy is an excellent kick-off point. This profession merges your passion for sports with your eagerness to assist others. That's a potent mix. Let's simplify your goals into manageable actions:
1. **Boost your grades:** This is key for getting into college.
2. **Hone your communication skills:** Crucial for any job, particularly in healthcare.
3. **Cultivate time management and organizational skills:** These will aid you in school and life.
4. **Dive into the world of physical therapy:** Gaining firsthand experience through shadowing or volunteering can offer precious insights.
### Carving Out a Plan
* **Academic Focus:**
* Give more weight to subjects aligned with your career goal (Biology, Math).
* Discover a study technique that suits you (study groups, tutoring, online resources).
* Break assignments into bite-sized tasks.
* Reach out to teachers or counselors for help.
* **Communication Skills:**
* Participate in clubs or groups to refine public speaking.
* Read widely to broaden your vocabulary.
* Utilize online tools to polish writing and grammar.
* Think about enrolling in an English as a Second Language (ESL) class.
* **Time Management:**
* Draft a daily or weekly timetable.
* Set clear objectives for each study period.
* Keep distractions at bay during study hours.
* Treat yourself for accomplishing tasks.
* **Exploring Physical Therapy:**
* Shadow a physical therapist to grasp the role.
* Offer your services at a local hospital or rehabilitation center.
* Take part in career fairs or workshops related to healthcare.
### Finding Support
* **Chat with your dad:** A heart-to-heart with him could be advantageous. Share your ambitions and how his backing can be a boost.
* **Seek a mentor:** A mentor can offer direction and motivation.
* **Tap into school resources:** Counselors, tutors, and learning centers are there to help.
**Remember, stumbling is part of the journey. We all face hurdles. What's important is how you bounce back.**
**Is there a particular area you'd like to concentrate on first?** We can dissect it further and devise a detailed action plan.
I'm here to back you up every inch of the way.
Stay Blessed!

Your comment does at least show initiative, which by all forms of success standards is the key to success. You will be successful whether you are a farmer or a corporate level CEO, if you focus on a path and stick to it. Most millionaires do not have degrees so even though companies may require them, training and experience can outweigh degrees in many industries.
But it's your character that determines success for one a person strives for a goal, be it in the beginning or close to the achievement, they are a success. They stop being successful after they achieve said goal. Thus the term "Successfully Completed"
Another goal must be set to become successful again. It requires Drive, Heart, Commitment and Focus. It does not require motivation, because you can motivate an idiot and only end up with a motivated idiot.
You have what you need to make life happen for you buddy. It's inside of you already or I would not be writing. Gods Speed!
