Deborah’s Answer

What's your reason? Here's mine.

I decided to become a lawyer when I was 10 years old. I'll be honest with you - my reasons made no sense. One reason was that my best friend in 5th grade wanted to be a lawyer, so I thought it would be great to do it with her. Another reason is that I saw lawyer shows on TV, and it seemed liked a cool job to get paid to argue!

Even though that friend moved away and we lost touch in 7th grade, I went ahead with the lawyer plan anyway. No one in my family had even gone to college, much less law school. I didn't even know any lawyers. I had no idea what to expect!

I'm happy to say I loved law school, and I found my way to a good career in intellectual property law. If I could go back in time, though, I would do what you are doing and ask actual lawyers about it before I spent years of my life trying to get there!

Hi!

I wanted to help people with their legal problems. I enjoyed using my knowledge to solve issues and being a lawyer enables me to do that.
