Diya scholarships can be a good way to ease the financial burden of college or fund your education entirely. Many scholarships are merit-based, meaning they're awarded because of a student's academic, athletic, artistic or leadership abilities. But you don't need to be at the top of your class or a star athlete to win scholarships. Many are awarded based on a student's financial need, and you may even be able to find some related to your hobbies. Often, some of the best scholarship sources are your school counselors as well as local cultural affinity groups, churches, clubs, community foundations and athletic organizations often award scholarships.
• SCHOLARSHIP.COM
Scholarships.com divides scholarships by a variety of unique categories, including GPA, military affiliation, ethnicity, artistic ability, ACT or SAT score and residing state. And when you select one of these categories, you’ll likely see a large list of subcategories, where you can then view all eligible scholarships. This system helps students find niche awards with smaller applicant pools that they’re more likely to win.
• FASTWEB.COM
Fastweb aggregates awards from both large and small directories. You have to make a profile to search for scholarships, which is similar to other sites. But after the initial sign-up process, you can easily search for scholarships and filter your results based on several data points. Fastweb will also notify you when a new scholarship matching your description is posted and when you have upcoming deadlines.
• SCHOLARSHIPOWL.COM
ScholarshipOwl is a popular scholarship website that compiles awards and organizes them by amount, types of requirements, number of winners and length of time until the application is due. ScholarshipOwl will automatically resubmit your application to recurring scholarships that don’t require anything beyond your basic information. This leaves you more time to focus on awards that require essays and recommendation letters.
• BOLD.ORG
While many scholarship sites are difficult to navigate, Bold.org has one of the cleanest interfaces. It’s easy to search and find different scholarships you may be eligible for and you can filter by your education level, award category, award amount and deadline. You can even toggle on the “no-essay” button to find scholarships that don’t require a written essay.
• CAPPEX.COM
Cappex claims to be the biggest online scholarship database, so it could pay to check the site for possible leads. Like other sites, you have to create an account to see all the scholarships you might qualify for. Their filter system lets you sort awards by year in school, scholarship amount, gender, ethnicity and award deadline. You can also search for renewable scholarships, which offer college funding for multiple years.
• MYSCHOLLY.COM
When you fill out a profile on Scholly, their algorithm will comb through available scholarships and create a list of eligible awards. Each scholarship will have a Scholly score, which ranks how good of a fit it is for your background and experience. The higher the Scholly score, the stronger match you are with the scholarship’s requirements.

Great advice, Doc Frick. I would also suggest this website as they award scholarships as well:

Community Foundations: Many cities have foundations dedicated to helping local students afford college.
These organizations may have specific criteria related to community service or intended major, so be sure to read the requirements carefully.
6. State-Specific Resources
New York State has its own scholarship programs that can help residents pay for college:
Excelsior Scholarship: This program provides free tuition at public colleges and universities in New York State if certain eligibility criteria are met.
New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP): Offers grants based on financial need.

Hello, Diya !
I think your question is very important because scholarships and grants can help you along with college expenses. It's awesome that you are looking into them and as you can see here, there are very many opportunities, not only the ones that your particular college offers but many others from different sources.
Look into the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation. It is a State agency that administers scholarships and grants for college students. I left the link to their website below as well as some others for Grants.
You can also look further than traditional sources, but I would also suggest researching on company websites. Go to any company websites, the pharmaceutical companies and any company that deals with the subject you will major in for undergraduate school. If you do not see scholarship or grant information on their website, do a search online for exactly what you are looking for. Large corporations often offer grants or scholarships. I have left links for you below for some non-traditional type scholarships. There's even a scholarship for tall people !
My best advice when applying for grants and scholarships is to apply for many, many of them - all you can find that you qualify for. The more you apply to, the better your chances are for receiving some. Apply to both the large amount and small scholarships. The work that you put into this will result in obtaining the financial assistance that all students need.
Best wishes !

Many fantastic responses have already been shared in answer to your query. But, I'd love to highlight one particular point for you. When it comes to scholarships offered by universities, some are specifically designed for early applicants. So, my friendly advice for you is to submit your applications to your first-choice institutions ahead of their stated deadlines. This is likely the case for other scholarship providers too. Always keep an eye on those important dates for application submissions. Wishing you the very best of luck!

There are virtually scholarships everywhere, but they kind of hide. The Honor society offer's scholarships, and I saw a scholarship offered by an academic club on the condition that I wrote an essay for them. I could you find you more resources if you would like.

Hi Diya,
Scholarship applications can start to be submitted during your Junior year and will continue throughout your Senior year in high school. It is best to ask your Academic Advisor/School Counselor on the timeline process as well. Scholarship applications will have specific deadlines and requirements to meet in order to be submitted for review and consideration.
The scholarship application is very detailed and can be a long process. The Scholarship Committee is looking at well rounded students who are deserving of the scholarship funds. They are seeing how well one can communicate, organization skills, financial need (in some cases) and accomplishments at school, at home and within the community.
You may want to start to compile your resume/portfolio since a majority of scholarship applications will require academic grade point average (GPA), academic accomplishments, school activities (clubs, sports, etc.), community involvement (volunteer, church, etc.), academic and personal recommendations, etc. There may be essay requirements on why you are a qualified candidate to receive the scholarship, what your future goals are academically and professionally and other questions centering around who you are, your beliefs, etc.
Here are a couple of links for College Scholarships:
https://www.mometrix.com/blog/scholarships-for-college/

Also, it will be best to check with the colleges and universities in New York that you will be applying to. You can check with the School/Department of your desired major, the Campus Career Center and the Register's Office for additional information for college scholarships and grants and specific requirements for qualifications.
Best wishes on your scholarship applications, your college education and future career as a Surgeon or Biological Researcher!
