Hello, future Nurse!!!
Welcome to the profession.
I will say that you are already ahead by having a dream career as a nurse. A lot of the nurses I know who had an easier time started early. That way, you start working towards a goal rather than taking on a lot of unneccesary credits that will not pay off in the long run. And sometimes I think nurses are born, not made. That is because its hard to teach someone how to care.
I am not sure if you meant an aeshetic nurse or nurse anesthetist, so I will look at both.
To be a nurse, you will need to go to nursing school. Some counties allow you to go to nursing school as early as in high school. If you are in a county that has an LPN program, you may be an LPN nurse by the time you graduate high school. If not, you can join a nursing school. Please note that joining a college is not synonymous with joining a nursing school. There is always a separate application for nursing school.
The beauty about the nursing proffesion is that there are so many options. An ED nurse's day is so different from an ICU nurse's day. And an ICU nurse's day is different from a public health nurse's day. So many options. School nurse, Urgent care, primary care, long term care, rehabilitation, Neurology, medical surgical, mother baby, neonatal ICU (NICU), research (NIH), Nursing informatics, leadership, nurse educators and others. You get certifications is some of these areas after your graduation.
An aethetics nurse works in the aesthetics industry. I am sure you have heard of botox, dermabrasion, and other beauty procedures. A lot of nurses are moving into this area of practice.
Another area is Nurse Anesthetist . Anesthesia is a sensitive area in the operating room that impacts a patient's life. You basically put the patient under anesthesia. As this is sensitive, it takes a lot more education and practice. You will apply to a regular BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) nursing school (and try to get very good grades because this is a competitive area), then apply for a Masters for Nurse Anesthesia. It is a very well paying career, and the demand is high. But there are limited learning spots because in nursing, we learn a lot of things by doing them in simulation or on real patients.
Nursing is a very rewarding career. I hope you enjoy the journey as well as the destination. All the best.
Thank you comment icon Thank you, this is amazing! I really needed it. Luna
Thank you comment icon You are so welcome, Luna. Nursing is the most trusted profession for a reason. Florence Nightingale did not have to leave her rich upbringing to take care of soldiers who were suffering for money. She went because she cared. Luckily, we are paid pretty well now since we have become a neccesary and well respect proffesion. And some day, I hope you walk that stage and have a great pinning ceremony as you get your lamp and pin. My school had a white coat ceremony at the beginning and a pinning ceremony at the end. Enjoy every step of that journey. Sylvia Mum
