Hey Yeshua!

I may not spin the decks myself, but my close bond with a DJ has given me a front-row seat to their journey. It's been an enlightening experience, and I'm excited to share it with you.

Being a DJ is an art form, much like any other role in the music industry. It requires a spirit of resilience, as recognition for your craft can sometimes take a while. But remember, the best things in life are worth waiting for.

DJs are music connoisseurs, possessing an in-depth understanding of music and the role of a music producer. Many go beyond just mixing tracks, stepping into the realm of producing their own. Staying updated with the latest trends, styles, and popular tracks is crucial, regardless of whether your aim is to set the dance floor on fire in nightclubs or create memorable moments at events and weddings.

Networking is a significant part of a DJ's journey. Frequenting new bars and clubs, getting acquainted with the managers and booking agents, and offering a taste of your work can open doors to new opportunities. In the early stages, your friends can be your biggest cheerleaders, showing up at your gigs, boosting attendance, and helping spread the word about your talent.

So, keep the faith, stay passionate, and remember, every great DJ started from scratch. Your journey is just beginning, and I believe it's going to be an incredible ride.

Agree with everything Matty Parry said as well. The Emcee part is a big part of the DJ experience that can elevate the journey. For now I would say LISTEN TO EVERYTHING! Don't be stuck on on genre of music but learn it all. Learn all the hits from all the eras and genres of music. Start with your parents and ask them what they liked to listen to back in their day and what their parents listened to. You'll be surprised how much music has been recycled. The more music you know the better you can manipulate and control the audience with the next track. Also learn BPMs of songs so you can start mixing and blending songs you think sound good together or might sound good together. Make as many playlist on spotify/apple music as well so you can start building an audience through that platform. Hope this helps and just don't stop! You got this Yeshua! :)

Hi Yeshua!

My advice to you is to look into the dj field! See what they're currently being paid and what's currently trending, there's so many forums out there to help you grow. I suggest maybe looking into some subreddits that pertain to DJing. Also, look for some freelance gigs now if you have the opportunity! It's never to early to try to grow your portfolio and expand job opportunities!

Best of luck Yeshua,
Dillon Graser.

Hello Yeshua! You absolutely have the potential to carve out a thriving career in the DJ industry! The first step is understanding your audience and aligning it with your musical preferences to create a unique and captivating musical journey. Remember, the most memorable DJs have the knack for introducing their audience to fresh tunes and artists, while also ingeniously remixing popular tracks to give them a new twist.

You can choose to spin your magic in nightclubs or specialize in events like parties, weddings, and private gatherings. Particularly, weddings can be a lucrative opportunity for DJs. However, some DJs today prefer to concentrate solely on the music, without taking on the role of an emcee. Possessing a charming personality that resonates with the crowd can be a game-changer, setting you apart from the emerging DJs of the present day. So go ahead, let your passion guide you to success in this exciting field!
