First of all, I encourage you to focus on your school and ace all of your classes. As you advance in your school, you will discover more about what you'll like better among the many choices.

- Video Editor: Use your creative eye to edit videos for YouTubers or businesses.

Rajeev’s Answer

Adam, I appreciate your insightful question. It's a common concern for students to wonder how they can transform their interests into a successful career. Based on your skills, hobbies, and interests, I suggest considering a career in either game development or content creation.

1. Game Developer:
The gaming industry offers rewarding career opportunities. Games that people enjoy daily need to be created, updated, and sustained, and this is where game developers come in. They are in high demand globally and typically earn a good salary.

Technical Skills:
To become a game developer, you should consider obtaining a bachelor's degree in computer game design or development. During your studies, strive to excel in the following areas:
a. Master object-oriented programming, data-driven programming, gameplay programming, and advanced programming concepts.
b. Learn programming languages like C++ and C#.
c. Develop excellent technical skills.
d. Acquire knowledge of game engines.
e. Foster creativity and a passion for video games.

After earning your degree, focus on the following steps to secure a job and progress in your career:
1. Develop a deep understanding of games.
2. Enhance your technical skills.
3. Build a portfolio.
4. Gain practical experience.
5. Network and collaborate.

2. Content Developer:
Content development is a flourishing field that allows creative individuals to display their writing and design skills. Content developers create and improve digital marketing content to help companies achieve specific business goals. They are responsible for developing a company's content strategy and creating its deliverables, which can range from blog posts and static web copy to podcasts and video content. They also handle the technical aspects of content creation, like basic HTML formatting and Search Engine Optimization.

Technical Skills:
a. Obtain a bachelor's degree in a field related to advertising, communication, journalism, English, or graphic design.
b. Become proficient with content management software, including:
i. Content management software, like WordPress.
ii. Graphic design software, like Adobe Photoshop.
iii. Slideshow software, like Microsoft PowerPoint.
iv. Animation software, like Flash.
c. Develop digital communication skills.
d. Improve written and verbal skills.
e. Enhance strategic thinking skills.
f. Develop analytical skills.

As a content developer, you should also cultivate the following qualities:
1. Pay attention to detail.
2. Conduct research on assigned topics for blogs and articles, including background research on products and target demographics.
3. Create photography, graphics, and videos for the assigned topic or article.
4. Proofread all content to adhere to the in-house style guide and brand voice.

Regarding your interest in dirt bikes, I recommend keeping it as a leisure hobby. It's vital to have a hobby that helps you mentally refresh and re-energize. This can also help you unwind, reduce stress, and spark new ideas or solutions.

Biplab’s Answer

I, too, like videogames, youtube, and the computer. No experience with dirt bikes, sorry!

You can enjoy all of the above as hobbies while having essentially any career, but if you are serious about also making your hobbies your life work, you could consider game design, development, and software development roles.

One piece of advice - pursuing something that you love as a hobby or as a passion can change into something you hate if you have to do it in order to make a living, along with all of those stresses that come with making something be the means by which you make a living.

So, it may be best to leave hobbies as hobbies, but it's up to you.

Good luck in your future endeavors!

Anish’s Answer

Hey Adam,
Why don't you work for a game developing company like Unity or Ubisoft or something else. If that doesn't work out, try messing around with things like unity, unreal, watch tutorials, gameplay videos, and more.
The goal in life is to have fun and survive, you can do that really easily when you explore your passions on the web. Find internships, make connections, and then make use of them by becoming a game developer in your own right.
Have fun, and good luck on pursuing a job that is perfect for you! :)
