What is the best pathway to become a nurse practitioner?
I want to become a nurse practitioner but i'm not sure what the best path is for me. I'm not sure if I should become a registered nurse first and work and couple years. Or just continue straight with my education until I become a nurse practitioner. Any suggestions on what exactly is the best path?

Hi Adriana C,
This is an excellent question and most practitioner may have different approach. To become a nurse practitioner, you must become a RN. You can bridge the RN program from another career path; however, the requirements for an advanced nurse practitioner career is to have your RN license. Once you have an RN license, you can enter a NP program directly from a RN program or work as an RN for bedside experience then enter the NP program. This is all up to you. I believe the more experiences a person have as a RN, the smoother your transition will be into the NP practice because you have years of application. Good luck!
