The UC schools typically accept people based on major and not by the specific college (like business, health and human services, education, etc.) so be pretty sure of what you want because "backdoor major changing" is typically frowned upon in that type of university. Some alternatives to a traditional business degree could be things like: Economics, Policy & Management, Merchandising Management, Renewable Resources, Hospitality Management, Accounting, Marketing, Research and Design, Human Resources, Mechanical Engineering (I have multiple friends who completed a ME degree and work on developing packaging - like how the boxes and containers we ship products in. Super cool!), General Management, and Computer Science might be effective alternatives.
Your best bet is to talk to your counselor and reach out to the admissions department at your application schools to discuss the acceptance rates by majors and get their feedback about your chances and likelihood of getting in with one major vs. another. Ask which majors are popular vs. which are growing vs. which have the least amount of students in them!
