One website that I found SUPER helpful when applying for college was the CommonApp website (https://www.commonapp.org/). You will not find every college on this website, but many colleges are on there! This platform allows you to use the same essay and application to apply for many different colleges at once! I found that this website allowed me to save myself a ton of time and energy while I was applying for college. It allowed me to apply to multiple different colleges so that I had many options without having to spend a ton of time on applications. It also gives you a checklist of everything you need to submit for each college so that you do not forget anything. This website will guide you step by step through the whole process.
One thing to keep in mind while applying for college is that many colleges do have application fees. Sometimes you can apply or ask for a fee waiver, which I would encourage you to do if you come from a low-income background. If not, it is a good idea to research colleges before you apply so that you only apply for colleges you are truly interested in. That way, you can save money on application fees for schools you are not as interested in.
If you are able to, I would encourage you to tour some colleges that you are interested in. You can usually schedule college tours online in advance. Attending a tour not only gives you an opportunity to see the college campus, but it also allows you to ask questions about the programs and opportunities the college has for you. You can talk to current students as well as faculty to give you a better understanding of whether or not the school is a good fit for you. If you are unable to tour colleges in person, consider looking for virtual tours online. Do not hesitate to reach out to the admissions office if you have any questions about the school.
