Hi America,

Certifications obtained, even from a free educational resource, are always appreciated if they are relevant. They are the next best form of qualification after degrees/diplomas.

While MA/MAA certifications from Job Corps can be beneficial (especially as they boost your resume and provide you with the skills), understand that your success in finding a job can depend on various other factors like demand, your skills, previous experience, and the efforts that you put into job hunting.

Current Market Demand: Presently, the demand for medical professionals in San Jose, including medical assistants, is reasonably high due to the growing healthcare sector in California.

Up-Skilling: Browse Medical Assistant jobs and make sure you possess most of the soft skills required. Be intentional about broadening your expertise with useful skills that will make you even more of an asset in a healthcare setting.

Work Experience: If you have no prior background as a Medical Assistant, you should consider applying for internships as they can provide valuable hands-on experience and improve your entry-level employment prospects.

Job Hunting: Research on current local job openings to see what's available. You should also be very proactive in utilizing career services at SJCC while attending job fairs, and connecting on LinkedIn with professionals in the industry.

In conclusion, becoming a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) is a feat that is respected in the job market and you should be proud to include it in your resume. The institution (Job Corps) is highly regarded along with its career technical skills training programs.

Hope this helps, and good luck!
