William’s Answer

Hi Tirth

I would consider choosing a class that aligns your interest in video games

Become a video game designer helps you to become a director regarding to your interest in making games

I also notices that you are interested in sports, take some free electives regarding to your chosen sport.

You have mentioned that you are passionate with aeronautics. You can become aeronautics major while aligning your interest in video games

You can also join clubs too!

Thanks
William

Theophilus’s Answer

Tirth, when I was in high school, I also had a mix of interests, from art to business, and even though I later focused on business management, those early interests helped me shape my career path. Here’s what I’d suggest based on your passions for games, sports, and aeronautics:

1. Video Game Design and Development: Since you love games, you might enjoy creating them as well. You could explore video game design, animation, or even coding games. I started exploring programming when I worked on projects like the ‘Rock-Paper-Scissors Classifier,’ and the same kind of problem-solving applies to game development. Learning to code (with languages like Python or C#) can help you get into this field. There are plenty of online courses and programs you can start now to build those skills.
2. Sports Science and Engineering: Since you enjoy cricket and badminton, you might want to consider a career in sports science or even sports engineering. This field focuses on how technology and science can improve athletic performance and equipment. It could blend your love for sports with an interest in technology or engineering. Schools often offer programs in kinesiology, sports management, or engineering specifically for sports gear development.
3. Aeronautical Engineering: Your passion for aeronautics can lead you to a career in aeronautical or aerospace engineering. This field involves designing, building, and maintaining aircraft or even spacecraft. You can look for schools that offer programs in aerospace or mechanical engineering. In the near future, you could take science and math courses to strengthen your foundation, as those will be key to succeeding in this field.

What Can You Do Now?

• Explore STEM Clubs: Just like I was active in different clubs at school, you can join STEM-related clubs or game development clubs to start exploring these fields more deeply.
• Online Learning: I started learning Python on my own, and you can do the same for game development or aeronautics. There are many free resources available, like coding tutorials or courses in physics and math that could prepare you for college programs in these areas.
• Reach Out to Professionals: When I started thinking seriously about business, I reached out to professionals for advice and guidance. You can do the same by contacting people in these fields to learn what their day-to-day work is like and what steps you should take to get there.

All the best!

Hi Tirth,

Just wanted to add, you may want to take some career tests to help you identify some career options that align with your interests. Your guidance counselor can help you and provide good ones, which my be available at your school. Great question as it's ever too early to start exploring careers.

Best wishes,
Tony

Andrea’s Answer

Hi Tirth! This is great question. The first step is doing what you already are -- paying attention to what interests you and lights you up inside. Aeronautics can generally lend itself to fields like aeronautical engineering, which designs, develops, tests and builds aircraft. That can include commercial aircraft, but that also could include helicopters and even things like drones. Especially because you like games, and you mentioned team sports in particular, you could explore your aeronautical interests further by joining a local aviation club. There are a ton of model aviation groups and clubs, and that might be a way for you to get connected in your community and see if you want to head further down this career path. As one example, you can find a group close to you at this site: https://www.modelaircraft.org/club-finder

Good luck!

Andrea recommends the following next steps:

Search for a local model aviation club
See if your school has any aviation or aeronautics clubs
Watch aviation/aeronautics videos on YouTube
