Is University of Reading good?

Hey everyone! Hope u guys are doing well. I am a BBA student who is thinking to pursue a master degree. I wanted to go in the field of sustainability, so I looked up for some universities and found one course of University of reading ( Henley business School) i.e Master in climate change, sustainable business and green finance. The course sounds interesting and I want to go for it but not very sure about this university. Can someone please help me and suggest whether I should go for it or not?

Thank you comment icon Hello Oshin Have you been on social media looking at student reviews? Navigating the journey of studying in a foreign country is both exciting and challenging, especially when it comes to selecting a major that's in high demand. Imagine investing your time and money into a degree, only to find limited job opportunities waiting for you afterward! It's important to explore professions that welcome foreign talent, as this can set the stage for a successful career. I once knew someone who embarked on a journey to England to pursue a Master’s degree in business, settling in Luton. While the education was enriching, the real challenge lay in managing finances. The high rents were a constant burden. What surprised her the most, however, was her willingness to trust her fellow countrymen. Sadly, she faced disappointment when some attempted to exploit her vulnerable student situation. This experience serves as a powerful reminder: even in a foreign land, the greatest struggles often come from those closest to us. She rented a room from a Punjabi family. Positive: students often go to gurdwaras for free langer. England natives would be more helpful and kind. To succeed, it's essential to stay at the top of your class and work closely with your professors, as they can assist you in finding a job or introduce you to their industry contacts. Seeking internships or volunteering for projects can also provide valuable networking opportunities. I wish you good luck! Charanpreet Walia

Hi Oshin - it seems that you have done your research and found an exciting program of study. I have put two links below that refer to the university's rankings - one from the university and one from US News and World Report. There are others, but I have not heard of them.

I agree with Charanpreet about using social media (including this site, Reddit, Instagram etc.) to learn about the university. Also, ask your contacts on LinkedIn and elsewhere if they know anything about the university. There may be unexpected connections. As a BBA student, you are savvy enough to know that people often will say negative things before positive ones so keep that in mind. Also look at the website and take any virtual tours. Could you imagine yourself going there? Do their stated values resonate with yours?

I would also use resources at your current college. Do your professors know professors at Reading? If so, what do they think of their scholarship and teaching styles? Have they had students go there before and what was their experience? If there is an active alumni association, could you talk with alumni who went there (even if not in your field) or who live in the area now?

Good luck!
