Beverly’s Answer

Hi Genesis,

Teaching is one career that gives back so much while encouraging you. I studied teaching in college but decided to go into educational administration instead. I always kept teaching in my back pocket, tutoring students, and teaching college classes part-time.

What I love about teaching is inspiring students to be curious, explore, and grow. Their energy fuels me to think differently, thus building on my own techniques. Being the person who can make a difference in a student's life is a powerful gift.

I know many successful teachers who say, "It's in my blood," and I believe them. Teaching is more than a job or career--it is a calling.

Heechan’s Answer

Two decades ago, I never imagined myself as a teacher. Yet, as time passed, my perspective evolved. Now, I view it as a fantastic opportunity and experience to share with the younger generation. We get to explain how our current generation has transformed and improved upon the foundations set by our predecessors. The children of today will continue living in this world long after we're gone. This thought may not strike a chord until one reaches a certain age, but increasingly, I find myself pondering over the legacy I'm leaving behind. I think about the values I'm imparting to my children, my loved ones, and all the wonderful people who will follow in our footsteps, hoping to contribute to a better and more fulfilling life for them.

Narina’s Answer

I am a former professor of Finance at a University. Not exactly a teacher in school terms but a teacher in many ways. My favorite part was to see my student progress, see how they grow from the beginning of the year through the end. Realizing their potential, getting better at what they were studying. It helps to keep you going and motivates you at all times.

Suzanne’s Answer

The best part of teaching is building relationship with students and watching them grow as learner. Your classroom is your sanctuary. You get to make a difference and a connection with kids in your community. As a young teacher, my fondest memories where from my 1st grade class and watching the turn into readers by the end of the school year. As challenging as the task was, it was very rewarding to know that you helped someone be a better version of themselves.

Suzanne recommends the following next steps:

Volunteer in a classroom for a day or week
