How will having a double major affect me financially?

I plan on majoring in Law and Spanish in college, but it is really important to me to be in the best financial spot possible when I graduate. #pre-law #law #spanish #spanishmajor

William’s Answer

Hello Rachel.

Going to school is not cheap, but it doesn't mean that is not affordable. Normally you want to take full advantage of any scholarships or grants. If you are currently employed, ask you employer if they provide tuition assistance. You want to also speak with the local financial aid office of the school you are planning to attend so they can give you further advice.

William recommends the following next steps:

Research available scholarships you can apply to.
Get a part time job or get a job with the school to help pay for your tuition.
Ask the school about setting up affordable payment plans.

Rachel’s Answer

Having a double major should not dramatically affect your finances as long as you still graduate in 4 years. However, knowing a second language could make a big difference in how employers view you. If you are a competitive applicant and get a job that compensates well because of your language knowledge, the language degree was priceless.
