How did you decide which college to attend?

I am torn between two colleges. Both are amazing and I have been accepted to both but I can't decide which one I want to go to. #college-admissions

Collegeboard.org is a great resource for this! I poured through the pages of universities all over the U.S. when I was a senior in high school. Collegeboard was my go-to site! They put all of the information in one place and it is very easy to use. They even have various filters you can apply to see only colleges that have programs you are interested. To determine academic rigor, look at the admissions requirements, G.P.A. of past admitted applicants, SAT/ACT scores, class rank etc. This will give you an idea of what scores and grades you need to be accepted. However, don't be discouraged your application will be reviewed based on the full picture! College-board will help you get an idea of what is most important to the specific school you are applying to.

This professional recommends the following next steps:

 • Chat with your Guidance Counselor
 • Create a Collegeboard.org account
 • Start using CollegeBoard as a resource to look up schools.

Hi Kirsten, thanks for submitting a question! I had the same problem when trying to decide which college I wanted to go to. I found a great article from USA Today that I think will help: http://college.usatoday.com/2016/04/10/picking-the-perfect-college/

The part that really sticks out to me is to go somewhere you can stand out. I went to Ohio University, a great college, but it's not an ivy league school. I obtained top executive roles with multiple organizations I joined on campus because everyone around me wasn't number 1 in their class at their high school. If you're the same, I would take this into account.

The one other piece of advice I'll give is you should make a list of everything you need/want in a college. Such as, does it have the sorority or club you're looking to join, is it close enough to home, is it well known for your major? Here's an example of what I mean:

Hope this helps and congrats on getting into both colleges! Best of luck!
