Zori, it's important to realize that as a high school senior with a keen interest in psychology, cognitive science, and their intersections with artificial intelligence, embarking on a cognitive science degree can unlock a plethora of thrilling career paths. Graduates frequently land fulfilling roles in areas like user experience (UX) research. Here, insights into human cognition are key to crafting user-friendly tech interfaces, an aspect that's especially pertinent to AI development.
Moreover, careers in data analysis and machine learning are within your reach, empowering you to utilize cognitive theories to refine algorithms and enhance AI systems. You could also consider venturing into clinical psychology or neuropsychology, where your grounding in cognitive science equips you with a robust understanding of mental processes and behaviors. Educational technology is another burgeoning sector where you could make a significant impact by creating tools that enrich learning experiences, all based on cognitive principles.
Beyond this, opportunities in research, be it in academia or the corporate world, offer a chance to explore the cognitive mechanisms that drive decision-making and perception, essential for AI advancements. Given the increasing integration of cognitive science in technology and healthcare sectors, pursuing this major not only dovetails with your interests but also places you in a dynamic job market where your abilities will be in high demand.

Hi Zori! Come be a speech-language pathologist. This field allows me to apply my background in psychology and cognitive science to the rewarding, challenging field of rehabilitation therapy. Use of AI is a growing sector in my field and allows me to more quickly access and create therapy and educational materials for my patients. My field is traditionally dominated by white female practitioners, and we're desperately in need of more people that reflect the diversity of our patient population.
