Figuring out the career you want starts with understanding what you like and don’t like. Pay attention to the subjects you enjoy in school and the activities that make you excited to learn or work hard. For example, if you love math and solving problems, you might explore careers in engineering, finance, or technology. If you enjoy helping others or being creative, careers in healthcare, teaching, or design could be a good fit.
It’s also important to notice what you don’t enjoy, as this can guide you away from paths that might not suit you. Try new things, like volunteering, internships, or part-time jobs, to see what feels right for you. Over time, these experiences will help you figure out your interests and strengths, so you can choose a career that fits you.

Yes passing all of your classes with a grade of B or even better will make you look like a competitive applicant for colleges. However, depending on your career of interest and the path you want to go into, it is not always required to have a college degree. If going to college will help you reach your potential career path and is of your interest, then the first step is to take certain AP and honor classes in high school, and to look into doing a internship or apprenticeship. You mentioned that your interests were in dance, math, and reading. Are there career paths in your mind that you would like to pursue by doing these activities that you like. For example do you want to be a dancer, choreographer, reading interventionalist, reading instructor, math instructor, or mathematician. Do any of these career choices peak your interest. You are still young and in your early years of high school, you have time to explore these interests and even more activities, look into taking courses that look competitive on college applications and can count towards college credit, and you can even look into doing internships and apprenticeships to get a better understanding if a certain career path is for you. (If you haven't already I'd suggest browsing through job boards such as Indeed or Handshake to see jobs you would like to do one day, you can find internships through here as well).

Hey Alayshia,
The best advice I can give here is to begin researching now and work backwards. You are in 9th grade so you have time on your side.
Research what you might want to go to college for and see what schools offer it. See which schools are highly rated in that or those (as it seems you have multiple interests) fields. Find out what requirements they have for admissions. I would go as far as to call the school and department and speak with someone to get a good understanding on what is required or expected. Then I would take a look at your grades and courses and make a plan to ensure over the next several semesters you have taken the courses and made the grades to meet those requirements. Your best bet is to get the best grades you can, but also to join clubs that align with those interests as well.
