What is the best way to get internships?
Paid internships before going into the business world is important to help support life as a college student but also for the experience. What is the best way--through networking or handing out my resumes or going to career fairs -- to get me noticed and applied for? #internships

Great question! You can always search company websites in the area of interest and see if they offer an internship program, you may end up with way too much information. If you have your field narrowed down, you can always look into trade shows/conferences that are taking place. These events generally have a student day at a reduced price and it allows you the opportunity to network with various companies and talk first hand with employees about internships that are available. I used to manage events for my team and more often then not, we always had a handful of students stopping by our booth to inquire about internships. This is also a great way to see many companies in one spot and learn a lot about their business; which will help shape your decisions on what companies you may be interested in working for.

By all means, internships, are one of the best ways to get experience and to gain a head start in your field. Since you are a college student there should be resources at your university (i.e. Career Center) that should be able to help guide you. During college I was blessed to have received a paid internship with AT&T and it was all arranged by the career center on campus. The companies come to campus to perform the interviews. I worked full-time and sat out of school a semester to gain experience. It was the best decision I ever made because it opened more doors for me with summer work options and led to a job offer during my senior year. My advice, would be to research your universities resources that are available to you. They will be able to guide you to companies they work with that have paid/unpaid internships. Wishing you all the best.
