Can you Study Abroad to learn something not directly in your major?
I want to study abroad but as I'm looking for colleges there are options for study abroad, but not in my field of interest in an English-speaking country. can you learn something in your minor or something related to a future career while you study abroad?

Great question and good that you are looking ahead at what you want. One of my kids was interested in studying abroad and when we spoke to schools that was one of the things we spoke about at each visit. In the end none quite fit for her either because of the subject matter she would have covered at the related school or various other things. What she did find was Semester at Sea which she studied abroad but on a cruise ship and got to experience things from multiple countries across Europe, Africa and Asia. The classes she took while there were primarily GenEd as she was a mathematics major, and they really didn't have the courses on there. Many of the students that were on the boat were from different colleges around the country and some international as well although I believe it was run out of the University of Colorado.
Hope that helps. I can tell you she has never regretted that choice.

Thank you! My parents didn't study abroad so its a big thing that they really want me to do and this is very helpful so thank you!

You may have a foreign language requirement as part of your degree plan. Study Abroad is a good way to complete those credits quickly. Depending on your degree plan, you have other options to study abroad. Talk to your academic advisor as to what would be applicable to your degree plan.
Thank you so much for the advice.
