Hey Jude! Listen, I have been there. We all go through it from time to time and sometimes it all feels like it's happening at once. Sometimes things are heavy and it feels like there is no end in sight.

The only thing I am sure of whenever I fall into really down times is that I have overcome 100% of my bad days so far and this time won't be any different. Please reach out to someone who you enjoy spending time with and make sure to take some time to yourself to relax. Do something you love. Meditate. Listen to your favorite music in the dark. Do things that bring you joy & most of all remember that you're here for a reason and everything WILL be okay! I hope you feel better soon!

Jude, what a good question and one that is so true to human nature! We are these beings full of feelings and emotions just trying to navigate our lives the best we can with what we know. Important to keep in mind, no matter how difficult things get, there is always a way out and the intense feelings will pass. Life can be plain stressful what with the demands we place on ourselves and the expectations of others. It may seem as though the tough times will last forever. Take a deep breath and fill your body with the possibility this is just not true. You have gotten this far in life. You have some tools in place to wade through the muck of life. What have you done previously to become the person you are today? When something was challenging (whether a relationship, homework assignment, exam- any example will do) what got you through it? If you are all alone with whatever is happening, I encourage you to connect with someone- a friend, pastor, counselor, mentor, teacher, neighbor. Find at least one person or support group where you can be yourself and share whatever is going on. Healing happens in connection with others; we are not solitary creatures. There are also things you can do on your own such as expressing yourself through art, journaling, dance, poetry, or music. Seek out activities where you get your body moving (like a sports team) or your mind activated. Whatever it is you like to do, get back to it. If there is something you have wanted to do but are afraid to try something new, take a risk. Push yourself. It will build your self-confidence and resiliency (I have faith in you!). You also might end up having a lot of fun! When times are tough, having an outlet is critical. Look to what you enjoy (or have enjoyed) whether reading, gaming, theater, cooking, athletics, etc. Giving back to your community through volunteer work can also provide a greater sense of meaning and purpose. Having some kind of structure to your days- something to get you out of bed will also make a difference in your mood and outlook. Not every moment or every day may be easy or full of wonder but sometimes it will be! This is being fully alive- feeling all the feels- happy, sad, mad, glad...We are all in it together. You are not alone.
