What you want to do now may not be what you want to do 5 years from now, 10 years, 15 years, ect. For example, for the things you really wanted to do 5 years ago, do you still want to do them or do you want to advance onto new horizons?

Your life now is likely to be less complicated than it will be as you get older and gain more responsibilities (e.g., taking care of your aging parents, taking care of your family). Therefore, now is the best time to prepare for your future, including what you may want to do 10 to 15 years in the future. With that being said, trade programs and colleges are the typical ways to prepare for your future needs/desires. Maybe you can study to be a pilot while also learning another trade.

Aiden - There are several colleges dedicated to flying. Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida is one. You'll be flying & taking classes to build hours in your log book. You have to build hours, so next would be flying with a commuter airline before applying at American or United. My sister went to Embry Riddle, my brother went to a local airport for his initial training, then taught for a bit before going to Brownsville Texas to gain further hours. My sister-in-law started working for a commuter airline then transitioned, after training, from there. You have many choices, good luck and good flying !!

Hello, I definitely suggest going to college. You always want to have your education to fall back on. Should you decided that you no longer want to be a pilot you always have your education to fall back on. You can go to school for 4 years and get a degree is something else you love doing and still be come a pilot. Having a degree looks excellent on a resume as well.
