This is a great question! It's important to have things you enjoy outside of your 9-5 job. That will keep you going and help you have a good work-life balance. You might consider joining a local or intramural team that gets together maybe 1 night a week so you can continue to invest in what you love outside of the work day. Bonus there is that you'll likely meet some new friends, too!

It's awesome that you have a passion for football while also aiming to become a software engineer! The key is finding a balance that lets you nurture both. Football can be a great way to stay active, relieve stress, and build teamwork skills, which are valuable in any career, including software engineering.
To manage both, you could prioritize your time by setting clear goals for each. If you love football, maybe you could play on the school team or join a local league while dedicating focused time to learning and practicing software engineering. Even if football is more of a hobby than a career path, it’s important to make time for it as part of your routine.
You could also explore areas where the two overlap, like developing apps or tools for football training, or even working on fantasy football platforms or sports data analysis, which would combine your love for football with your interest in technology.
What’s your vision for how you want both passions to fit together in your life?

Hey there, Christian! It's really great, as Deeshani pointed out, that you're keen on merging your love for football with your ambition to become a software engineer. I'm totally on board with everything Deeshani suggested.
On top of that, why not get in touch with some football teams to gain a deeper insight into how a software engineer can contribute to a football organization? There are countless possibilities, starting with a role in the IT department. You could ask to shadow a professional in that area, or even consider an internship as you progress through your studies. This way, you can get a feel for whether it's the right fit for you and discover other opportunities you might not have considered. This could be something you explore at your college or university, or with other teams. Remember, networking is a powerful tool for learning more about potential roles and opportunities.
Wishing you all the best on your journey!
Reach out to your favorite team and ask for an informational interview to learn what roles may be available
Ask to shadow someone in the roles that appeal to you
Ask for an internship
Learn about more opportunities you never thought of
