As a computer science student, what are several steps I should take in order to get an internship at a top company? Are the classes enough, should I focus on multiple side projects? Have one larger side project? And once I do get an internship, how can I make sure to get an extension of it?...

I am incredibly interested in these fields, and am also quite indecisive/unsure about what major(s) to pursue. I'd like to be alerted to any existing career paths that combine these elements.
