What is your favorite and least favorite part about your job as a cardiovascular surgeon?

I'm a high school sophomore doing career research and I'm thinking about becoming a cardiovascular surgeon. I've always been interested in healthcare and becoming a surgeon so I'd love some input.

It's a good thing to see people do what they want, but you have to prepare yourself that being a doctor or physician requires a lot of effort, you have to prepare yourself accordingly, start by getting good grades to get into medical school, that's the first thing and then the rest will follow.

Angel’s Answer

As a cardiovascular surgeon, my favorite part is the opportunity to make a direct, life-saving impact on patients. Performing surgeries that can extend life or significantly improve a person's quality of life is incredibly rewarding. It’s also a field that requires continuous learning, which keeps me engaged and always striving to improve. However, my least favorite part is the long hours and the emotional toll that comes with complex surgeries or patient outcomes that don't go as hoped. The responsibility is immense, and the pressure can be intense, especially when dealing with critical cases. But despite these challenges, the ability to help others makes it all worth it.
