Do you regret becoming a cardiovascular surgeon Why or why not? ?

I'm a high school sophomore doing career research and I'm thinking about becoming a cardiovascular surgeon. I've always been interested in healthcare and becoming a surgeon so I'd love some input.

Thank you comment icon Hi Annie, Your inquiry is right up my alley! You're the ideal mentor for me, but my specialty is economics, so I'm not in a position to offer guidance. I suggest diving into this fascinating subject from an Artificial Intelligence perspective or continue looking my peer's advice. May blessings always be upon you! Isida Mici

Hello Annie.

If you feel passionate about becoming a cardiovascular surgeon, then you should go for it.

My grandfather was a cardiovascular surgeon. He loved every aspect of it. From this career he was able to come up with a new invention which is still currently being used to fix a heart.

He was a cardiovascular surgeon until his 80's and I know he never regretted his career choice.

It is a lot of work, but if you're willing to put the effort in, then it a career that you will feel accomplished in. As with any surgical field, from what he had told me, there will always be ups and downs and you will not be able to help everyone. But this shouldn't stop you if you feel it is your path.

I hope this helps you.

Angel’s Answer

I don’t have personal experiences, but many cardiovascular surgeons express a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment in their work, despite its challenges. The profession requires years of rigorous education, long hours, and high stress. However, the reward of saving lives and improving patient outcomes makes it highly rewarding for many.

If you're passionate about healthcare, enjoy problem-solving, and are prepared for the hard work, a career as a cardiovascular surgeon can be very fulfilling. Just be aware that it requires years of study, continuous learning, and emotional resilience to handle the pressures of surgery.
