As we know referrals get placed very soon.

I'd like to echo the above, Linkedin is a great platform to advertise yourself and also look for job postings. Indeed is also another free site that allows you to post your resume and individuals can contact you with potential job opportunities. You can also use craigslist, monster, dice, usajobs.
