This is a great question. Well, I would say, first, you would have to genuinely love and understand people. From there, you will be able to create products/services that revolve around solving your customer base problems. Also, being professional at all times (from your dress and demeanor). Being personable, approachable, accountable and good with time-management/scheduling. Also, the ability to set goals, objectives and strategies and the ability to measure these aspects should be included. Great oral and presentation skills is a huge asset. Also, the ability to forecast, think ahead, come up with ideas and strategies also helps. In addition, knowing your competition and how your company works. Also, any information you convey is accurate/up to date and is submitted to the appropriate parties in a timely manner. Being a good team player and the ability to communicate and work great with others is a must. Getting along with other personalities (by adapting and adjusting to their personalities) will get you ahead. Also, staying on top of the latest business news/trends and actively working on developing your skills will all help to make you a well-rounded businessperson.

All you can do is take 5 or more successful business models and read about their views on business or read some books they have published.
