How to Get Career Counseling in Pakistan
Career counseling is an essential service that helps individuals make informed decisions about their educational and professional paths. In Pakistan, there are several avenues through which you can seek career counseling:
Educational Institutions: Many universities and colleges in Pakistan have dedicated career services departments. These departments often provide counseling sessions, workshops, and resources to help students understand their options based on their academic backgrounds. You can start by visiting the career services office at your institution or contacting them via email or phone.
Private Career Counseling Centers: There are numerous private organizations and centers that specialize in career counseling. These centers offer personalized guidance based on your interests, skills, and market demand. Some well-known centers include:
Career Counseling Center (CCC): Offers a range of services including aptitude tests, one-on-one counseling, and workshops.

Online Platforms: With the rise of digital technology, many online platforms now offer career counseling services. Websites such as Rozee.pk and Mustakbil.com not only list job opportunities but also provide resources for career advice and counseling.
Professional Associations: Various professional associations related to specific fields often provide resources for career development. For example, the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) offers guidance for medical professionals, while the Pakistan Bar Council provides resources for law graduates.
Government Initiatives: The government of Pakistan has launched several initiatives aimed at improving youth employability through skill development programs and vocational training institutes. You can explore these options through local government offices or websites dedicated to youth affairs.

International Relations (IR): This subject is crucial if you are interested in diplomacy, foreign affairs, or global governance issues. It provides insights into international politics, security studies, and global economic relations.
English Literature: While this subject may seem less directly related to public service roles compared to Political Science or IR, it enhances critical thinking skills and analytical abilities which are valuable in any profession.
These subjects are considered professional enough as they align with careers in civil service, policy analysis, international organizations, academia, journalism, and more.

Hello, Muqaddas !
To receive Career Counseling while you are living in Pakistan should not be a difficult task. For starters, you are here at the right place. You can utilize all of the resources online here at Career Village. You can present your questions and concerns to the advisors here and we are always happy to help out.
It is great that you will be taking the CSS exam. After passing the exam, your government will place you based on your skills, education and abilities and experience level into a position. The courses you've taken are fabulous, but one class in a subject does not make one an expert or something to build a career on. If you already have a university degree, that would add more opportunity to be placed in a position that aligns with your university degree. You need to be familiar with the CSS selection process and I am happy to provide the information for you. You can always verify it directly with the CSS.
The CSS selects candidates with the highest scores from the exam and how well they do on the interview with the Federal Public Service Commission. Your score will determine where you are placed for a position. You will have the chance to tell them which departments you want to work in. If your scores from the exam and interview are great, they will consider placing you in the department of your choice.
What's really cool is that upon being selected, before you start working, you will receive training at the Pakistan Civil Services Academy. This will train you specifically to work in the department they've placed you in. Some of the departments you might be placed at could be the Pakistan Administrative Service, Pakistan Foreign Service, Pakistan Customs Service or others. But you'd be trained for it. Your position in a CSS job comes with opportunity for promotion.
So for more career counseling, you are very welcome here at Career Village. Explore our website - read articles, present your career questions to advisors and receive a variety of advice, information and referrals if needed. I would not advise you to pay for career counseling services as they are expensive. You can receive guidance at no cost here as well as an alumnus of the secondary school you've attended at their academic counseling office.
I hope this is helpful and wish you all the best. Do return here if you have more questions !
