Hey Tiger, back again, and I love your curiosity man!
Oh, And Seriously, No worries—asking questions is how you figure things out. And honestly, your plan makes a lot of sense. If you're not sure about college yet, working first can be a great way to explore your interests and gain experience.

Is Working Before College a Good Idea?
Yes! A gap year (or more) can help you build skills, travel, and earn money while you figure things out. Plus, college will always be there if you decide to go later. I have taken a gap year as well so it can help you figure out things easily when you are not.

Basically, Since you love traveling, blogging, and YouTubing, your best options are flexible, creative, and remote-friendly jobs.

Alexandra M. S– She suggested that if you love exploring, cultures, or meeting people, you might enjoy studying environmental studies, social sciences, or public administration. That’s solid advice—if you do go to college, pick something that connects with what you love. But for now, let’s talk about jobs you can do right away to get experience.

So to Start Working & Earning Money at the moment.....

1. Freelancing & Online Work (Best for Travel)

Freelance Writing – Get paid for blogs or travel articles on sites like Upwork, Fiverr, or Medium’s Partner Program.

YouTube & Social Media – Keep making videos! It takes time to earn, but YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Instagram Reels grow fast.

Remote Customer Support – Companies hire people to work from anywhere. Try sites like We Work Remotely or Remote.co.

Teaching English Online – If you're fluent, sites like Preply or Cambly pay well.

2. Travel-Based Jobs (Earn While Moving)

Work in Hostels & Resorts – Many offer free accommodation in exchange for work (check Worldpackers or Workaway).

Tour Guide or Travel Assistant – If you like meeting people, guiding tours can be fun.

Photography & Videography – Sell travel photos/videos on Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, or EyeEm.

3. Internships & Gap Year Programs

NGO Volunteering – Get experience in media, marketing, or event planning.

Work Abroad Programs – Some countries offer temporary work visas for young travelers.

Should You Go to College Later?

If you find a career path that works without a degree, you might not need it. But if you ever decide to go:

Love storytelling? → Journalism, Media, or Communications.

Love digital work? → Marketing, Film, or Business.

Want a flexible degree? → Online or part-time programs.

Remember man....
No rush—you’re young, explore and figure it out.

Start small—freelancing or part-time jobs let you test different things.

Document your journey—it could turn into your career.

You're doing great by asking, Tiger. Now go chase those adventures!

Thank you comment icon How I can do touring?. I don't know that but I seen many do it in some places like ancient zones. Tiger
Thank you comment icon So, you’ve seen people leading tours in ancient places and now you’re wondering—how does that even work? Well, touring is basically storytelling with a bit of guiding magic, and lucky for you, you already love traveling and blogging, which is half the battle won! Since you're into exploring, the first thing to figure out is what kind of touring excites you most. Ancient ruins? Hidden gems? Food tours? Street art? Ghost walks? There’s a tour for literally everything. Some people even guide tours of famous movie locations or abandoned places (creepy but cool). Tour guides don’t just point at old buildings and say, “Yep, that’s old.” They bring places to life. If you love history, start reading up on it, watching documentaries, or even taking free online courses. Dr H
Thank you comment icon If you’re more into adventure, practice making even the simplest places sound exciting—because that’s what great guides do.Join other people’s tours. See how they make things fun, how they keep people engaged, and—most importantly—how they deal with that one person who always asks too many questions. Some countries require a tour guide license, especially for historical sites. Poland has some official courses, and in places like Italy or Greece, certification is a must. But if you're doing street tours, food tours, or unique experiences, you can usually start without one. Since you’re already blogging, you could test the waters by writing about your travels, making short videos, or leading informal walks for friends. Dr H
Thank you comment icon If people enjoy what you do, you’re onto something. And when you're ready to go pro, you can work with a tour company, offer your own tours through platforms like Airbnb Experiences, or even partner with travel agencies. Oha and man The best tour guides aren’t just walking Wikipedia pages—they make things fun. So, add jokes, weird trivia, dramatic storytelling, and maybe even some mysterious “Did you know…?” moments. Because let’s be honest—people love a good story way more than a pile of ancient bricks. Dr H

Alexandra M. S.’s Answer

What aspects of traveling do you like best? I often recommend going to college, so here are my ideas:

- Environmental beauty: consider going to college for anything related to environmental studies or conservation.
- Local culture: consider going to college for anything related to social sciences.
- Exploring somewhere new: considering going to a college that offers a lot of study abroad programs.
- Getting to know strangers: consider going to college for anything related to human services or public administration.

Good luck!

Thank you for your question. It is also a good idea to have a gap year before entering the college. You can work on the industry you might have interest.
Below are my suggestions:
1. Think about what you have interest, eg your hobbies, favourite subjects, etc and identify the related careers
Eg if you like music, would you like to be a musician, singer, musical artist, music composer, music producer, etc
If you have interest in maths, would you like to be an accountant, engineer, banker, financial analyst, maths teacher, etc
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counselor, your parents, etc
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue.
5. Explore any opportunities to work in the industry. And, explore the entry criteria of relevant subjects in colleges
Hope this helps! Good luck!
May Almighty God bless you!
Thank you comment icon I appreciate this, thank you for the advice. Zaroon

Hi,
Please feel welcome to ask as many questions as you want!
I think that working instead of attending college, with the intent of saving money, gaining experience and a sense of direction is a great idea.

You should look for entry level jobs that you should look for should mirror your personal interests, or a career that you know would enjoy. By finding an entry level position now, you could leverage that role and continue working there while attending college so that you can apply what you've learned in class to the real-world immediately.

Another good thing about working an entry position before college is that once you graduate, there is a chance that you could just climb up the ladder internally at a company that you are already very comfortable working for.
