You can find inspiration in almost anything and anyone. For me, I found the spark to pursue a career at Verizon through my mother's good friend. She worked there for many years, and when she heard they were hiring, she shared the news with me. I got hired in a different part of the company, and it opened my eyes to the many possibilities. With Verizon, I discovered a career within a career. There are so many departments to explore, like marketing, learning and development, or operations support. There are chances for lateral moves and promotions, too. I'm sharing this because it worked out wonderfully for me, and I believe it can for you as well. Most companies offer many opportunities, with different departments where you can explore and grow.

In my case, my father has been a major inspiration for me in pursuing my career path. He is an engineer, and watching his passion and dedication to his work motivated me to study engineering as well. For example, some are influenced by a grandparent’s home-cooked meals, others by watching cooking shows like those of Gordon Ramsay or Julia Child, and some by working in restaurants and falling in love with the fast-paced kitchen environment.
