Hi Brian - careers are or feel long because we have to work enough to ensure that we can retire and take care of ourselves hopefully also independently. What is important from my point of view is to avoid stressing out on the planning part of our career and maybe feel anxious that school is not preparing enough. For certain, when you move from school to work, you will realise that you will be asked to learn new things, that may not have a 1:1 exact match with what you had learned at school. But be sure, school prepares - equally, the experience at work shapes you. My advise is to be ready to changes, adapt as you feel it's possible for you, and be open minded.. if you like to study and work, if you feel like you have something to give and you are open to challenges or new ways of working.. then you have a good ''base'' to build your future upon.. but take it step by step.. think at each situation, evaluate if that's the right thing for you to do and then take action. Wish you all the best!

Hey Brian!

Your last year of high school can feel more difficult because it's a big transition point in your life. You’re balancing schoolwork, possibly a job, extracurricular activities, and making decisions about your future. Teachers also push you harder to prepare you for college, trade school, or the workforce. It’s challenging, but it’s also a time of growth and self-discovery!

As for having a career—it’s important, but not in the way many people think. What truly matters is finding something you're passionate about or at least something that aligns with your skills and goals. A career gives you stability and opportunities, but success doesn’t always mean following a traditional path. The key is to keep learning, stay open to opportunities, and choose a path that makes you feel fulfilled.

You're on a great journey, and it's okay not to have everything figured out yet. Just keep pushing forward, and don’t be afraid to ask for advice along the way! 🚀

Would you like me to tweak this or add anything? 😊

Careers last many years because they are built over time through learning, experience, and growth. The last year of high school feels harder because it prepares you for the next step—college, work, or training. It’s more challenging because it matters and helps shape your future.
