Can you only get minors in the field you want to major in?

I was just curious if you can earn a minor in other things that you don't want to major in. #majors #general #college-minor #majors-and-minors

Actually you can get minors in any field you are interested in and it does not have to be what you are going to major in. Getting minors in other areas is actually a great idea because it rounds out your education and shows potential employers that you have a more broad education. Also, sometimes you take classes or minor in things unrelated to your major and find that you have a real interest in these other topics.

No- I think some encourage to get a minor in something diffent. For example, you want to be a doctor, some would say, get an undergrad in business or some other field that can supplement you medical studies later. This is not a one size fit all. Take your core classes and seek advice from the academic counselors.
