ROGER’s Answer

Hi Ezaan, I really like Nicole's answer below. If I could add to it I might suggest the following in terms of exploring other options for "Careers in sports"
What sports do you enjoy?
Would you enjoy playing those sports? (athlete)
Would you enjoy coaching those sports ? (coach/manager)
Have you ever considered what it means to Market and Advertise for that sport/sports team? (Marketing/social media/ sales)
What data is collected in order to make a better team and and a better audience experience ? (data analytics and data science) Watch the movie "MoneyBall" to see what I mean here

there are probably many other jobs and facets that would come along with working in sports. Keep an open mind, I can tell you are very wise as you are already thinking about alternate options just in case your first plan does not work out exactly as planned. S M A R T ! Good luck to you !!

Nicole’s Answer

Hi Ezaan A. I see that you posted this question a little while ago so I hope my answer to you (or others who may read this response) is still helpful.

In my house, we watch and play lots of sports :). It is from that point of view that I share that I have seem many, many sports figures move into the areas of television broadcasting, sports writing, scouting for new talent...really the sky is the limit for once-professional athletes.

Given the age you have posted in your question, it seems you may be asking about young people who aren't professional athletes who don't advance in career in professional sports. If I have this right, in building a "backup career", one should consider the same important elements as building a "first choice" career. Things like what do you like to do, what are you good at doing, what do you want to learn more about...and since the answer to those questions are limitless, it may require taking a little time to answer them. If you are successful in your answers, there is a good chance you will meet your goals...and it is likely that you will adjust your answers again as you master what you seek to learn.

I hope you find this answer helpful. Best of luck to you!
