Hi Nancy!
When I was about to graduate from my Masters program I made a promise to myself: I was going to walk across the stage with a job offer. Although that did not happen, I found a position 3 months after graduation and have been very happy. I think that there is a lot of pressure to have a job immediately after graduating but from my personal experience I've only known a few people that obtained their role at that time. Finding the right fit is a process and do not feel discouraged.
The biggest piece of advise I can give you is to get as much experience as possible while you are in school. Internships, freelance work or being a TA will all help in the long run. If you are out of school and are applying for full time work, take every interview as an experience. What questions did they ask that I wasn't prepared for? How can I improve for the next interview?
Keep applying and you will find the right fit. Good luck!

I have found that having that degree opens up many doors that are closed until you have that piece of paper. From experience working in HR, the degree shows that you can complete tasks and requirements set before you. I was lucky to have a job when I graduated, but I had opportunities come my way that wouldn’t have if I had not graduated.

Hi Nancy,
Actually I was working even before I graduated. I have gained over 3 years of solid corporate & smaller business experience before I finished my masters and it paid off in how many offers i was actually receiving and how confident I was during interviews. And I was offered a job right after my graduation because of these experiences I have gathered.
Now I was very lucky and it certainly does not mean that you should feel it needs to be like this every time.
I believe you should keep looking and applying for jobs that makes sense for you, that you feel somehow connected to. The right offer will come, it always does for people who are committed and determined to succeed.
