Hi! Congratulations on thinking ahead! A good place to start is with your teachers. Talk to your science teacher to see if he/she knows of an organization or a person with whom you could volunteer or shadow to get to know more about becoming involved with the outdoors and wild life. Talk to your phys ed teacher to see if he/she knows of an organization or person with whom you could volunteer or shadow to get to know more about becoming involved in sports. The best job or opportunity is the one in which you feel most challenged and rewarded and have the most feeling of accomplishment. Volunteering and shadowing will enable you to get to know people in various occupations and how they got there. These networking connections will help you achieve your greatest potential for self fulfillment. Keep me posted. I would like to see how you are doing. Send thank you notes to those who help you. Best of luck!

Thank you comment icon Starting with your teachers, who know you well, will enable you to see how others see you in that light. If they see the same thing that you see, they will be very willing to help or they may be able to offer helpful suggestions By seeking out those suggested by your teachers and by those connected with your school, you are following a path of connection that will enable to to garner people's attention better than those without such a connection. Networking from known to known will prove to be the best path to reaching your goal. Best of luck. Please keep me posted. Ken Simmons

This is wonderful that you are thinking ahead and being so ambitious. My advice would be to look around your community, and neighborhood and GET INVOLVED! See if you can help out, try these things out, get a part-time or seasonal job in any or all of these. Explore, build your skills and make the connections. These are all great starters toward your future decisions and possibilities. All the best to you!

Thank you comment icon thank you I will definitely look in my community😄 Mason

The fact that you are in 6th grade and asking this question, means you are thinking ahead! Great Job! It sounds like you are interested in outdoor activities so maybe at this early age you could start volunteering at local or state parks. Volunteering may include helping keep the grounds clean, painting, maintenance, etc. This could lead to future opportunities at these parks for a job in high school, etc. While these are not the tasks you would be doing as a game warden, hunting guide, etc., this woukld help you experience different wild life and working outdoors in preparation.

Thank you comment icon thank you for your info Mason

Hello! What an awesome path you want to go down! I myself have worked as a fishing guide in Montana and loved it! My best piece of advice is to meet people who love fishing and hunting and start talking to them! Also go to local hunting or fishing stores to meet with people and learn how they became guides! I also recommend getting involved with the organization "Trout Unlimited" they have amazing programs for people who love fishing and are all over the United States!

You are doing amazing already and keep up the work!
