Vinny’s Answer

Unless you are a prodigy, in order to become good I would say it takes drawing every single day. find a style you like, and draw in that style, until you learn techniques to start developing your own. Keep a sketchbook with you and practice daily.

Some would say it takes 1000 hours to become good ant anything, and to become a master it takes 10,000 hours.

Vinny recommends the following next steps:

Keep a daily Sketchbook
upload digital versions of your art to social media platforms like Facebook or Instagram and ask for open critiques.
Take critiques into consideration and continue to move forward.

Sela’s Answer

You can always become good at drawing, if you make time. Start with 15-20 minutes a day of quiet drawing, looking at your surroundings. Then when you're comfortable, go up to 30-60 minutes of still life figures. My favorite thing to do is go to a public park or museum and draw the people interacting with the exhibits. BTW, I'm also from Milwaukee. You can draw the people down at Summerfest or the Milwaukee Art Museum. Give yourself time. It can take up to ten years to master any skill, so you have to start somewhere. And most importantly, don't compare your skills to someone else. Just track your own progress.
