What educational preparation would you recommend for someone looking to be an engineer?

I’m a senior student at Brennan HS. I’m looking into engineering careers because I excel at math and science but have a creative streak that needs an outlet. #engineering #math #engineer #science #career #education #collegeclasses #careerpath

Ashford’s Answer

I would say just keep practicing whatever math you’ve learnt because it will not go away when you go to college. Same with science, make sure you understand all the concepts because that makes it easier to learn and pick up if you’ve forgotten. These are the two basic foundations that you will need.

Why don't you take a class on writing a mobile application and that could be a great creative outlet for you. You can also get involved in social media platforms as a fun way to merge creativity and technology.

Douglas’s Answer

Hi,

If you are already a senior, you have probably already taken the required math and science classes which are a prerequisite for admission to a 4 year engineering school. If you are not a senior, you should meet with your guidance councilor to review and sign up for the math and science courses which will help you do well on your SATs.

Good Luck,

Keep yourself updated with the latest technology trends. Learn some technologies like Java or Python or Machine learning or blockchain etc. Practice coding. Start slow and get hands-on experience. Happy learning :)
